GAMEDAILY NWN 2 PREVIEW
- Your PC starts out as a everyday commoner, no one of importance gives you much notice.
- Up to 3 of 10 available NPC's may join you. They each have their own personality, desires, and agendas.
- The NPC's actions may have a effect on the game world just like yours.
- The NPC's may part ways to deal with their own issues, at times this will effect the core plot.
- Minotaur confirmed monster
- Talked a great deal about the new eye candy (mist, rolling hills, setting moon) and how it impressed him.
- ~77 "different monster types" confirmed. See below.

RPGVault
- "All told there's well over 50 monsters in the game." (Ed: I *believe* he is refering to the OC not toolset)
- Orc, Troll, Pit Fiend and Iron Golem verbally confirmed
- Some side quests involve optional areas of the game - you don't have to go there, but it's usually worth your while if you do.
- Some quests are based on companions, with some class quests too.
- Shooting for 30 to 40 hours of playtime in the OC
- Can play the OC in MP, however some dialog and the like will be scaled back.
- 48 total team members working on NWN 2

GameBanshee
- Your PC is more akin to the Vault Dweller from the Fallout series. As s/he is molded by events rather then pre-defined background.
- Your PC will have no ties or canon FR NPC's.
- Not only black and white moral choices but a lot of 'grey' choices as well.
- Your choices will directly effect your alignment and alter it.
- The influence system of Knights2 has a deep impact on the NPC's in NWN2.

NWNVAULT
- On the topic of the toolset mostly what we already know painting 'tiles' and such
- Traps can now respawn
- New confirmed script command OnPartyLeaderChange
- SetName command is being considered
- You can swap scripts out on the fly
- Currently a 3DMax or such plugin shipping does not look promising
- Toolset has 'plugin system' that allows to tie in custom applets
- There will be a way to split treasure fairly in MP games
- All the prestige classes that were released by BioWare, in all their expansion packs will be included
- So far a total of 11 prestige classes confirmed
- Total of 10 NPC companions to choose from
- Direct control over the NPCs that join you
- By playing a Drow there will be some reaction by NPCs but they are focusing more on making sure that all the decisions that players make have consequences
- You can name your animal companions and familiars.
- Whirlwind Attack, Power Attack and Cleave feats confirmed.
- Companions will chime in and talk to you as they feel the need, a'la BG2.
- More use of stealth in the OC.
- A lot of dialogue in the OC so diplomatic characters can get a lot of mileage.
- Arcane Trickster confirmed PrC.
- All the core basic item types are in NWN2.
- Mirror Image spell confirmed.

- You have 100% control over your companions level progression and inventory(having played KotoR II i was sure about that but i don't know if it has been confirmed) 你能100%地操控你佣兵的升级以及装备

- Most interesting: There will be some sort of progression tree concerning char development "by category, with respect to classes and races". I think the journalist is talking about a feat-selection-window as seen in KotoR,but i cannot be sure. he is using the term "fertigkeiten" which means "skills" in german d&d and nwn but i am sure he's wrong.

- The graphic engine is 100% based on directx9c, the autor is amazed by the graphics (which is propably a very good sign...)

最新一期Computer Games 上刊登了关于NWN2的消息(主要toolset 方面)

- Obsidian based a lot of the toolset re-design on "player (forum?) feedback"
- Goal is to give players "more godlike options"
- To make the toolset easy enough so "that dosen't look shitty when used by non-artists" (Feargus quote)
- Interiors still use tilesets, exteriors do not, much more organic; compaired it to WoW
- The exterior slopes and craigs "aren't strickly 3D" but does look as such
- You size scale monsters via the mouse wheel
- You can set which sections of a area have a walk mesh or not
- Items may be saved in "stackable prefabs" to be duped or reused another time
- Dialog options: color, size, font. parenthetical asides
- Dialog "main question mode" eliminates repetitive loops from the dialog trees via automaticly checking against the gamut of possible parameters at the time of the scripting process
- Fully editable particle editor
- Water physics
- Ability to create campaigns of inter-linked modules

官方宣布NWN2中将不会出现乘骑系统…………(残念)

While the speculation has been rampant in the community and Obsidian has kind of answered the question, it is now official. Here's what J.E. Sawyer had to say:

Rideable horses will not be in NWN2. I'm sorry it's taken so long for you to get that answer, but there it is.

A lot of components of horses are in the game right now, but bits and pieces don't make a working whole -- especially when that working whole is a vast sprawl of interconnected subsystems.

Given their partial implementation, the large amount of work remaining for them, and their low integration into the official campaign, we decided to cut them. My apologies to those who may have been depending on mounts for their NWN2 module ideas and for players looking forward to using mounts in the OC and enduser campaigns.

Warcry- 关于NWN2中的人物表情动作

J.E. Sawyer, new lead developer for NWN2, responded to a post thread regarding animations various users would like to see:

- point at [object] with hand
用手指向某个物体

- laugh out loud with head thrown back
头向后仰大声笑
- giggle with hand lifted to face

- cry with head leaned forward

转一些Warcry 采访Obsidia 关于NWN2 联机情况的问题

Persistent World Issues:

- Will a local copy of the module be required?
At this point, yes, at least the walkmesh portion. Walkmeshes will be version stamped and a check will be performed on log in to determine if the versions match. Brian Lawson and Adam Brenneke later confirmed this fact.

- Will it be possible to encrypt the files players download in order to make them secure and avoid spoiling secrets?
Unknown at this time though it –seems- like it would be something that can be accomplished. It is something the developers are still considering and working on.

- What about a dedicated server?
YES!

- Is it possible for one computer to host more than one module?
Maybe if it’s a super computer according to Adam and Brian.

The DM Client:
- Were any features dropped from the NWN client?
No though enhancements have been made to some. For example, entire parties can be jumped from one spot to another rather than one character at a time.
Any other enhancements or improvements?

- There is now a free roaming camera for DMs so that their avatar doesn’t necessarily have to be in the immediate vicinity of a party. Their avatar can be at a distance yet follow the party or individuals with the camera. The DM avatar doesn’t have to move with the party.

- Are any of the DMFI functions going to be part of the DM client?
Not at this point.

- Can DMs rename their avatars and/or NPCs/monsters in the game?
Using the set_name function it is possible.

- What about the improvements to the client that were made in the last patch version released by Bioware?
Work began on the DMC before the latest additions implemented in the 1.67 patch so those features will not be in the new client though other enhancements/improvements are being made.

- Will the DM client be ready for download on the day of release?
Simply put: Yes.
